Sports for Nature is developing a new set of guidelines and tools - Sports for Nature: Urban Game Plan – to help sport organisations enhance nature in their infrastructure and operations within the built environment, creating benefits for both nature and sports.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), who are leading this work, are seeking 1-2 sports clubs willing to test part of these draft guidelines and tools by conducting a baseline assessment of the environment in which they are located (species, habitats, opportunities for restoration, degraded areas etc.).
What’s involved?
Initial meeting online (30-45 minutes).
An assessment of nature in and around your club grounds, based on the draft guidelines and with support from IUCN (1-2h desktop analysis & 2-3h site visit).
Debriefing online (30-45 minutes).
Why participate?
Gain recognition for your commitment to nature and sustainability (your case study to be featured in the guide which will be distributed to a wide international audience).
Receive guidance from IUCN experts.
Enhance your club’s green credentials and explore new ways to benefit from biodiversity.
If your club is interested in taking part, please reach out to Jana Janotova at Jana.Janotova@iucn.org, by Wednesday 12 February, 2025.
