A Game Plan for Reducing Energy Consumption

Sports clubs are no exception in today's challenging energy market, grappling with rising costs and the need to meet sustainability initiatives. However, amidst these challenges lies an opportunity to become more energy-efficient, sustainable, and resilient.

A Partnership for Sustainability:

We've developed an exclusive energy product designed specifically for clubs, provides access to the most competitive energy market prices, with a focus on 100% Green Energy. This product delivers financial savings and budget security by mitigating energy market challenges and provides a game plan for reducing energy consumption, providing a sustainable future for community and grassroots football that is accessible to all.

Focus on LED Lighting and Solar PV:

Inefficient floodlights in clubs are considered some of the highest-consuming assets and upgrading to LED lighting can significantly reduce energy consumption and costs. Additionally, Solar PV has emerged as an extremely viable opportunity for clubs to save on energy costs. With energy costs at an all-time high, generating renewable energy through solar is delivering the most generous return on investments seen to date.

There market is still presenting many challenges for clubs though, treading a precarious line, balancing the urgent need to enhance matchday experiences and embrace energy efficiency, all whilst soaring energy costs and the cost-of-living crisis have had a significant impact on clubs across the country. The situation is dire, with some facing the heartbreak of closure due to unsustainable costs.

While the challenge is profound, the opportunity to become sustainable is within reach, offering hope to clubs navigating these challenging times. With funding mechanisms and embracing support, energy-saving measures can are feasible and create a more resilient future.

EV Charging: A New Revenue Stream:

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging solutions at clubs can be a unique opportunity, by embracing energy transformation through public destination charging services. This also delivers a new source of income for the club on and off match days, provides greater experience and convenience for fans, staff, and those who drive past the club needing to charge their vehicle.

The Path Forward:

The energy crisis has been a challenge, but it also presents an opportunity for clubs to rethink their energy strategy and move towards more sustainable practices. BCFA Energy provides a roadmap for clubs to navigate this complex landscape. With the right strategies and solutions, clubs can not only weather the aftermath of the energy crisis but also emerge stronger, more resilient, and more sustainable.

We are working in partnership with UtilityWorks to help football clubs of all shapes and sizes at

the heart of their local communities, during the energy crisis. The partnership will also deliver the

first of its kind financial support fund that will have a positive impact on both sustainability goals

and community activity, with plans to support up to 100 projects that meet the criteria over the

next 3 years.

We have recognised that all clubs are being impacted by both rising energy costs and the cost-of-living

crisis. This has put sustainability goals on hold for many clubs and has also directly impacted the positive

work they do in the community.

The aim of the partnership is to provide access to products that mitigate the risk with rising energy costs, support sustainability goals and provides community-based activity funds that enable clubs to navigate the current economic climate.
